Beard Family Trips & Vacations

Ottawa, ON

October 12, 2011 - Information Center

Pictures from the Information Center:

Exterior of the Information Center.  The statue of Terry Fox, a Canadian hero, for his drive to try to run across Canada, and raise money for cancer research, following losing his right leg due to cancer.   He was never able to complete the run due to the cancer returning and spreading to his runs.  In 1980, he had ran for 143 days and 5,373 kilometers starting at St. John's, Newfoundland, and having to end near Thunder Bay, Ontario.  He ended up dying eight months later from the cancer.  The statue can barely be seen just behind the white shuttle bus above the black car.

Never took a picture of the statue itself, so borrowed one from to show it.

Interior pictures.
