Disney Magic Transatlantic Cruise

May 26, 2014 - Galley Tour

Pictures from the Galley Tour:

Chef Marcus discussing the tour and statistics of what the kitchens on the ship put out each day.

Most requested desert on any of the ships - a Mickey Ice Cream bar.  Over 3,500 bars are consumed each day of a cruise.  Even though they are not on the adults' menus in the restaurants, you can ask your server for one and they will get it for you.  I ended up doing that during one of the evening meals.

Chef de Cuisine Shyam took us through the galleys and explained what each area and some of the equipment was used for.  He described the controlled chaos that occurs in the kitchens during the meals.  Each restaurant serves about 700 people all their courses in 45 minutes twice an evening.  They use a lot of codes to help keep track of what is going on.

Chef Shan Shan from England was in the pastry area where she works.  She had fresh-baked cookies ready to pass out to each visitor and answered questions from various people.

We ended the tour in Carioca's where Chef Shyam heads the staff of that restaurant.
